Mini-Pillars

To understand the concept of mini-pillars you must know how pillars work and the WESN movement theory.



Mini pillars are a special type of object in GOP that only appear on the Mind altar. They are 0 tiles wide and 0 tiles long yet they can affect orbs on upto 4 different tiles.

This is a mini-pillar;




There are many mini pillars in the Mind altar although some of them are on the same tile as rocks or walls. If they are on the same tile as rocks or walls they will have the same effect as whatever else is on the same tile.

Here is an image of all the mini pillar locations on mind altar (the ones circled in greens are ones on the same tiles as other obstacles)




When repelling vertically or horizontally mini pillars have no effect on orbs. The effect of mini pillars is only noticeable when colliding with them diagonally.

Orbs react to mini-pillars the same way they react to normal pillars, although the tile on which the effect occurs depends on which corner you are pushing/pulling the orb into.


To help understand the theory of mini-pillars I have created some illustrations;


As you can see in these illustrations, that the mini-pillar has no effect on the orbs when playing horizontally or vertically.

But once you start attracting or repelling into these they start to effect your orb path

A question:
Why are there some green tiles missing in the orbs path in the last colom of the diagonal attracting table?
Oh and there are two yellow tiles in the second row, last colom of that table.

The double yellow tiles are a mistake that I will fix later.


The 'missing' green tiles are due to the fact that orbs do not go on every tile when moving them diagonally on any one of these lines:

2y+3x=0
2y-3y=0
3y+2x=0
3y-2x=0


Maybe this illustration will help you understand:

Do you mean y - 2x = 0, etc? Also, if you stop attracting it when it reaches the mini-pillar, it will go completely around it.
